When I was younger, I enjoyed working on my house. I made all sorts of improvements to everything from the garage to the roof. I added seamless gutters, skylights and solar panels. I replaced windows, plumbing fixtures and cabinets. I invested into a state-of-the-art heat pump, security system and sprinkler system. My gardens were extensive and intricate. I added pavers, walkways and a gazebo. As I got older, it became harder to keep up with all of the work. The house turned into a giant burden. Watching my house and landscape deteriorate caused me a great deal of stress. The gutters corroded, the pavers were no longer level and the gardens became overrun with weeds. When the roof, HVAC system and water heater all needed to be replaced at the same time, I decided to sell. I wanted to find something much smaller. I was considering a little cottage-style house or possibly a condo. Unfortunately, selling the house proved exhausting. The realtor had a long list of suggestions to make the property more appealing. I didn’t have the time, money or energy to take care of all that. It took months to attract a potential buyer. The haggling was discouraging. Once we finally agreed on a price, the buyer attempted to secure a bank loan. There was a home inspection that resulted in a twenty-page report. I was required to replace the roof and gutters, hire an electrician to ground all of the outlets, upgrade the heat pump, buy a new water heater and so many repairs. There was no way I was going to do all of that. My realtor suggested I try a cash home buyer. I read reviews and chose a local cash home buyer that is family-owned and operated. They were wonderful to work with. They did not require an inspection, appraisal or any repairs.
