House located in bad neighborhood

My husband and I spent months house shopping in different areas of Jacksonville.

  • While we really wanted to purchase a property in one of the better neighborhoods, we simply couldn’t afford the prices.

We expanded our search and found a house right on the verge of an upcoming neighborhood. Our hope was that the area would steadily improve, making our house more valuable. Unfortunately, living in that house was stressful and frightening. There were constant police and fire sirens going off. We frequently heard raised voices and violent confrontation. Our house was vandalized with spray paint on the siding and rocks through our windows. We had lawn chairs, garden hoses and potted plants stolen. Our cars were broken into. I was unwilling to arrive home from work prior to my husband. I was afraid to be alone in the house. We were not happy or comfortable. When we decided to sell, we were unable to attract a buyer. We raised our asking price several times without any results. Eventually, our need to vacate the house led us to a cash home buyer. We needed the money from the sale to pay off the mortgage and find new living accommodations. Working with a cash buyer allowed us to close on the house within two weeks. We received the full amount deposited into our account. The process was straightforward, hassle-free and quick. The cash buyer handled all of the details. There were no closing fees, realtor fees, inspections or appraisals. The neighborhood wasn’t a problem. It was such a relief to move out of that house.
